Data Engineer - Senior
Summary
Data Engineer – Senior – Reston, VA (On‑site). Cherokee Strategic Edge is seeking a Data Engineer to support Defense analytical requirements with enhanced scientific research, and contribute to the DIE’s integrated all‑source analysis of foreign defense capabilities for warfighters, Defense planners and policymakers.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate data management systems for intelligence needs.
- Determine how data will be stored, accessed, used, integrated, and managed across different data regimes and digital systems.
- Work with data users to create and populate optimal data architectures, structures, and systems.
- Plan, design, and optimize data throughput and query performance.
- Participate in the selection of backend database technologies.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Compensation
Starting Salary Range for Data Engineer – Senior: $150,000 – $175,000.

Basic Qualifications
- U.S. citizen (or legal permanent resident) – documentation required.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with a Counterintelligence polygraph (or ability to obtain the polygraph).
- In‑depth knowledge of labor‑category activities required to meet mission requirements.
- Ability to communicate complex, incomplete, or highly technical information clearly.
- Demonstrated collaboration with other intelligence community members on information sharing, collection driving, and analytic dispute resolution.
- Ability to develop concise, insightful, and comprehensive defense intelligence products.
- Capability to guide teams in researching multifaceted or critical problems.
- Willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer; occasional standing or moving about the office may be required.
- Pass pre‑employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 12 years of related experience, with at least a portion of that experience within the last 2 years.
- Master’s degree in a related field.

Work is performed primarily in a climate‑controlled office environment.
