This role is part of the Data Products & Platform organization and works closely with Product Management, Data Architecture, and Data Engineering teams across Disney Experiences Technology. ## About the Role Disney Experiences Technology is seeking a Lead Data Engineer - Solutioning to serve as a key technical partner for product and data initiatives. Reporting to the Manager of Data Engineering Solutions, you will engage with Product Managers early in the intake process to assess feasibility, clarify requirements, identify data dependencies, and translate business needs into scalable data engineering solutions. You will work across solution design, architecture, data modeling, estimation, planning, implementation, and operational support while helping teams adopt modern data engineering practices and emerging technologies. ### Key Responsibilities * Serve as the primary technical counterpart to Product Managers during the product intake process.* Assess technical feasibility, clarify scope, and identify data dependencies.* Translate business and product requirements into well-defined data solution briefs covering data sourcing, transformation logic, and consumption patterns.* Partner with Data Architects to develop architectural patterns and data models aligned with enterprise standards.* Provide technical sizing, estimation guidance, and risk assessments for product initiatives.* Lead the design, development, and management of technology architectures and data solutions.* Build solutions for collecting, managing, processing, and consuming structured and unstructured data from diverse sources.* Develop robust processes for data flow, routing, storage, transformation, and maintenance.* Implement data cleansing, organization, transformation, and automation using advanced technical tools and programming practices.* Apply emerging technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning where appropriate.* Establish design standards and quality assurance practices that support data compatibility, operability, and integrity.* Analyze business and product requirements related to data operations and recommend improvements to systems and storage solutions.* Support estimation and planning for sophisticated, scalable projects and related budget considerations.* Stay current with emerging technologies and provide informed technical recommendations.* Provide escalation support, coordinate ongoing operations, and contribute to enhancements of existing tools when needed. ### Required Qualifications * Minimum 7 years of related professional experience.* Advanced development skills in SQL, Python, Java, Scala, or comparable programming languages.* Strong SQL and scripting expertise for data extraction, transformation, automation, and development of performant datasets.* Extensive experience with relational and NoSQL databases and modern data platforms, including technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, Oracle, MongoDB, DynamoDB, or Redis.* Experience with cloud technologies, including AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), for data storage, processing, and analytics.* Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, Kinesis, DMS, and Managed Flink.* Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams and evolving requirements.* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, encourage creativity, and drive technical excellence.* Commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive teams and creating an environment where team members feel a sense of belonging.* Familiarity with modern data engineering technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Airflow, or dbt.* Willingness to continue developing expertise in data engineering tools, methodologies, and emerging technologies. ### Preferred Qualifications * Experience leading technical solutioning sessions with Product Managers, Architects, Engineering leads, and other stakeholders.* Strong solutions-oriented mindset and ability to create clarity in complex or ambiguous delivery environments.* Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, including dimensional modeling, Data Vault, and medallion/lakehouse architectures.* Ability to bridge business and technical domains by translating stakeholder requirements into executable data engineering solutions.* Experience in solutions engineering, technical product management, or data product ownership.* Familiarity with data governance, data quality frameworks, and metadata management platforms such as Alation, Unity Catalog, or Apache Atlas.* Experience designing data contracts and producer/consumer interface standards. ### Education * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a comparable field, and/or equivalent professional experience.* Master’s degree in a related field is preferred. ### Compensation The hiring range for this position in Florida is $148,300 to $198,800 per year. Actual base pay may vary based on internal equity, geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
