About The Role

The Principal Data Engineer role at Wintrust is a strategic position responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing data solutions within the Master Data Management (MDM) platform. This role requires a highly skilled professional capable of analyzing complex data integration requirements, designing scalable and secure data processes, and ensuring high-performance standards across all data-related initiatives. The Principal Data Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including offshore and third-party vendors, to implement best practices in data management and DevOps.

The position offers an opportunity to work remotely anywhere in the U.S., with the primary location based in Rosemont, Illinois. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the data architecture, supporting ongoing improvements, and ensuring the integrity and security of critical data assets to support Wintrust’s business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Applications, Electronic Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related data engineering role
  • At least 5 years of experience with Informatica Master Data Management (MDM)
  • 5 years of experience with Informatica Data Quality (IDQ)
  • 5 years of experience with SQL Developer or similar SQL-based tools
  • Strong understanding of data integration standards, security protocols, error handling, and auditing processes
  • Proficiency in designing and deploying data flows within MDM platforms
  • Experience with DevOps practices related to data integrations and testing methodologies
  • Excellent analytical, technical specification, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain scalable data solutions on the Master Data Management (MDM) platform following industry best practices
  • Perform comprehensive analysis for data integrations, defining standards for security, error handling, scalability, and auditing
  • Aid in estimating and scoping all data integration projects related to the MDM application
  • Analyze requirements and prepare detailed technical specifications for data solutions
  • Design, develop, and deploy data flows to support MDM initiatives, ensuring data quality and consistency
  • Implement DevOps practices for data integrations, including automation, testing, and deployment
  • Participate in various testing phases such as unit testing, point-to-point testing, end-to-end testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Serve as a technical resource for internal teams, offshore partners, and third-party vendors on escalated issues
