Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops, optimizes, and troubleshoots ETL/ELT processes to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources.
- Supports ongoing data warehouse operations such as data migration, reporting, analysis, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Collaborates with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions.
- Interprets data and analyzes results using statistical techniques and provides ongoing reports.
- Creates and maintains documentation on large scale data warehouse models and processes.
- Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Supports reporting and BI tools by preparing datasets, building queries, and optimizing data access.
- Participates in data governance, quality initiatives, and best practice development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other IT related field with 5-8 years of experience, or, an Associate's degree in one of these fields with 5-8 years of experience performing development and application analysis work.
- Minimum of five years of experience in data warehousing and relational databases.
- Hands-on experience with data warehousing concepts (Star Schema, Snowflake, fact/dimension tables).
- Proficiency with ETL/ELT tools and data integration technologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL server, data modeling tools, ETL tools and data warehousing technologies.
- Strong SQL skills.
- Strong understanding of database concepts and data modeling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical understanding of ISBE application framework to troubleshoot and support user interfaces (e.g., Data Quality Dashboard, Illinois Report Card, My Data Dashboard, data verse.)
- GIT version control ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
