About the Role
Data is fundamental to Whatnot’s mission of connecting people through commerce. As our newest Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in building and scaling the systems that facilitate data-driven decision-making across the organization. Your role involves collaborating directly with stakeholders in payments and finance teams to design reliable data architectures, develop resilient pipelines, and create essential data products that support both internal growth and external user engagement. On a day-to-day basis, you will own end-to-end data architecture, define how critical business data is captured, modeled, and served, and implement these solutions in production environments. You will develop high-volume data pipelines, design canonical data models, enforce data quality standards, automate operational workflows, and support analytics and machine learning initiatives. Your work will directly impact the company’s ability to analyze, optimize, and innovate using high-quality, real-time data.
Ideal candidates are proactive, curious, and outcome-oriented, with a passion for building scalable data systems that empower business growth. They thrive in fast-paced environments, are comfortable navigating ambiguity, and excel at translating complex business needs into elegant technical solutions.
