Data Engineer Lead
About the role
The Data Engineer Lead plays a pivotal role in building and operationalizing the minimally inclusive data necessary for the enterprise data and analytics initiatives following industry standard practices and tools. This position leads the development of data pipelines, ensures their effective deployment into production, and supports key data consumers such as business analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders. The role also focuses on data quality to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency, and uniformity in Huntington’s data.
Responsibilities
- Architect, create, and maintain data pipelines.
- Assist in renovating the data management infrastructure to drive automation in data integration and management.
- Partner with data science teams and business analysts to refine data requirements for analytics initiatives and data consumption needs.
- Train counterparts across the organization in data pipelining and preparation techniques to facilitate data integration and consumption.
- Work with data governance teams to vet and promote content to the curated data catalog for governed reuse.
- Communicate complex results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Work effectively in teams and independently across multiple tasks while meeting aggressive timelines.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members, fostering collaboration across the organization.
- Ensure business needs are clearly understood and met through stakeholder engagement.
- Analyze trends in technology and assess the impact of emerging technologies.
- Coach individuals through change and serve as a role model.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science, statistics, a related field, or relevant work experience.
- 7+ years of experience in data management disciplines, including data integration, modeling, optimization, data quality, or other relevant areas.
- 7+ years of experience with database programming languages and advanced analytics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field.
- Hands-on data testing experience.
- Demonstrated success working with data preparation tools.
- Extensive experience with data engineering tooling (e.g., Glue, Landa, Athena, AWS).
- Expert knowledge of BI software tools.
- Expert experience with open-source and commercial data science platforms.
- Experience with Lean and/or Agile methodology.
- Strong experience with various Data Management architectures and processes.
- Strong ability to design, build, and manage data pipelines for data.
- Experience working with large, heterogeneous datasets to build and optimize data pipelines and integrated datasets.
- Demonstrated success in extracting business value from large, heterogeneous datasets.
- Strong experience with DevOps capabilities like version control, automated builds, testing, and release management.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job.
- Financial Services background.
Schedule
This is an exempt, full-time position. Certain positions outside our branch network may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement, combining in-office and remote work. Specific arrangements will be provided by the hiring team.
