Data Engineer II

Key Responsibilities

• Support the ingestion of new sources into SPE’s Snowflake data platform, working closely with central IT and cloud operations teams to define ingestion requirements and validate that pipelines meet business needs.
• Translate complex business use cases into the design of robust data models using dbt and SQL. Apply analytics engineering best practices to ensure maintainability, reliability, and performance.
• Contribute to fast-paced project teams working to build new ISA tools. Source and harmonize data from disparate systems to create consumption-ready data used by data scientists and data visualization leads.
• Deliver business impact within a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Maintain quality, integrity, and security standards across data platforms and pipelines. Collaborate with IT, engineering, and Infosec teams on governance and compliance efforts.
• Effectively communicate with non-technical stakeholders to understand business requirements and collaborate with technical partners across multiple disciplines to design elegant solutions.
• Contribute to a high-performance team, collaborating openly with peers to create a team culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or related fields; advanced degrees are a plus.
• 5+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related technical role in a production environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work with complex data domains and organize data assets for analytical use.
• Interest in business concepts, entities and relationships relevant to a TV production & distribution studio is a plus.
• Advanced SQL & Python skills. Experience building transformation pipelines in dbt is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, GCP/BigQuery, AWS/Redshift) and with pipeline orchestration tools.
• Familiarity with CI/CD workflows, version control, and automated testing frameworks to meet data quality standards.
• Exposure to generative AI technologies and interest in applying AI-driven approaches to data engineering and analytics workflows.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, and inherent curiosity to understand the business systems and processes where much of our data originates.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the media and entertainment industry is a plus, but candidates from other industries are welcome to apply.
• A genuine interest in film and television is appreciated but not mandatory.
