The Data Engineer II plays an important role within [Company Name], focused on delivering engineering innovation within [Department/Team Name]. S/he acts as a “universal translator” between IT, business, software engineers and data scientists, collaborating with these multi-disciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement data pipelines to collect, process, and store data efficiently.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and accessibility.
- Create data models to support business analytics and reporting.
- Work with business partners, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data needs, and design schemas.
- Build and manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for data integration and automate data ingestion and transformation tasks.
- Optimize ETL pipelines and databases (both SQL and NoSQL).
- Maintain database performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Collaborate with software engineers to integrate data systems with applications.
- Utilize big data tools for processing large datasets, such as Spark, BigQuery, SQL, Pub/Sub, or DataProc.
- Implement distributed systems for real-time data processing.
- Ensure data governance and security through compliance with data governance policies and data security standards.
- Implement data access controls and encryption techniques.
- Document data architecture, pipelines, and processes.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related quantitative field such as Engineering or Mathematics or equivalent formal training or work experience.
- Minimum Experience: Two (2) years equivalent work experience in measurement and analysis, quantitative business problem solving, simulation development and/or predictive analytics.
- Strong knowledge in data engineering and machine learning frameworks including design, development and implementation of highly complex systems and data pipelines.
- Strong knowledge in Information Systems including design, development and implementation of large batch or online transaction-based systems.
- Strong understanding of the transportation industry, competitors, and evolving technologies.
- Experience as a member of multi-functional project teams.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.

Collierville Pay Range: $7,488.36/monthly - $9,922.07/monthly
