This position is part of the Data Integration & Delivery Team and will be based in the office with a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Data Engineer Level 1 for projects, enhancements, and production support.
  • Responsible for analysis and support of assigned projects, including hands-on development.
  • Assist in establishing work estimates based on business requirements through project feasibility, scoping, and estimating activities.
  • Contribute to high/low-level designs and technical specifications for accurate execution.
  • Validate accuracy and quality of data integrations generated from ETL specifications, ensuring data model specifications are met.
  • Assist with hands-on design, development, and testing for complex data-related work.
  • Coordinate and lead production implementations to ensure smooth, high-quality releases.
  • Participate in delivering new warehouse sources, tables, or marts while leveraging existing company standards.
  • Coordinate Ascot and vendor resources to ensure high-quality and timely deliverables.
  • Think independently and creatively to streamline work and root out inefficiencies.
  • Identify opportunities to increase speed and quality of output.
  • Articulate ideas and turn them into new capabilities, performance improvements, and quality enhancements.
  • Anticipate and report technical and organizational roadblocks.
  • Embody The Ascot Way in daily interactions, fostering colleague engagement, development, collaboration, inclusivity, and individual accountability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience as a Data Analyst/Engineer for a large Data Warehouse, working with large datasets.
  • Experience with ETL tools such as SSIS, Informatica, or ADF.
  • Experience in the Commercial and/or Specialty insurance industry is desired.
  • Understanding of financial data and concepts.
  • Analytical, rigorous, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven SQL skills, including using SQL to identify and correct data issues.
  • Database knowledge, preferably SQL Server or Synapse.
  • Capable scripting/SQL skills to perform ETL, data/file validation, analysis, and profiling.
  • Minimal ability to create, read, understand, and interpret data models.
  • Code maintenance and review experience in one or more general-purpose languages.
  • Understanding of insurance domain data models is desired.

This position may be filled at a different level, depending on experience.

Pay

The annualized base pay range for this role is $95,000 - $110,000. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. Base pay is one component of Ascot’s total compensation package, which may also include annual cash bonuses and other discretionary awards.
