Data Engineer (Expert)
About the role
As a Data Engineer you will design data models, build data warehouses and data lakes, automate data pipelines, and work with datasets of all sizes. You will optimize overall data and information flow by reducing redundancy and enabling accessibility within security boundaries. You will apply extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) techniques to connect large data sets from a variety of sources, create data‑collection frameworks for both structured and unstructured data, and develop cyber and operational analytic tools that help consumers build and optimize downstream products. You will also establish standards, tools, processes, and governance for capturing, modeling, storing, and delivering enterprise data.
Responsibilities
- Design data models and construct data warehouses and data lakes.
- Automate data pipelines and handle datasets of all sizes.
- Optimize data/information flow by reducing redundancy and ensuring accessibility within security boundaries.
- Apply ETL techniques to integrate large data sets from diverse sources.
- Create data‑collection frameworks for structured and unstructured data.
- Develop cyber and operational analytic tools for downstream product optimization, including dataset procedures for data mining, modeling, and production.
- Establish and maintain standards, tools, processes, and governance for enterprise data capture, modeling, storage, and delivery.
Requirements
- Minimum 11 years of experience as a Systems Engineer/Data Engineer.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology or Engineering (preferred).
- Experience integrating diverse data streams.
- Experience with data transfer tools (e.g., NiFi, Cribl).
- Establishing data standards and acting as custodian of IT and service‑delivery data sets and streams.
- Experience analyzing complex networks and systems.
- Experience analyzing log data from various network components and operating systems.
- Knowledge of complex environments involving shared networks and multiple security enclaves.
- Ability to manage and troubleshoot data feeds.
- Familiarity with Splunk.
- Proficiency in Python.
Preferred Qualifications
- Security Development and Operations (SecDevOps) experience.
- Hands‑on Splunk experience and certifications.
- Scripting tools including Python, ShellScript, or Ansible.
- Cloud security controls and implementation experience.
- Public, private, and hybrid cloud experience (AWS, Microsoft Azure, etc.).
- AWS Certified Security Specialty.
Pay
Full‑Time Salary Range: $146,670 – $249,330. This range reflects market pay structures; individual salaries are determined by business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
