Data Engineer , AWS Infrastructure Supply Chain Intelligence
About the role
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and are looking for a talented Data Engineer to join the Manufacturing Operations, Transportation Operations, and Reverse (MOTOR) organization in support of our Supply Chain Intelligence team. MOTOR manages the manufacturing of datacenter racks and the movement of racks/parts through the supply chain, including transportation, warehousing, and reverse logistics. This role connects different systems across the supply chain to provide operational teams with clean, actionable data.
The ideal candidate relishes working with large volumes of data, enjoys highly complex technical contexts, and is passionate about data and analytics. You will architect data pipelines for optimization and predictive analysis, working with stakeholders on strategic projects across MOTOR.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain infrastructure to answer questions with data, using software engineering best practices, data management fundamentals, and operational excellence.
- Build datasets that analysts and scientists use to generate actionable insights.
- Define data engineering processes leveraging AWS services to improve accessibility, redundancy, data integrity, cost, and storage requirements.
- Develop high-quality, scalable solutions for products/models that address business needs while anticipating future requirements.
- Collaborate with Research/Applied Scientists, Data Engineers, Business Intelligence Engineers, Data Scientists, Business Analysts, and Product/Program Managers to understand business and technical requirements.
- Interface with other technology/data engineering teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of sources using AWS data technologies.
- Lead the technical design and implementation of data infrastructure.
- Design and manage data audit, quality, and reconciliation processes in collaboration with stakeholders.
About the team
This team provides data engineering and business intelligence engineering services to the rest of MOTOR. We ensure operational teams have accurate, timely data and provide business insights to improve operational excellence.
Requirements
- 3+ years of data engineering experience.
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
Skills
- Expertise in working with structured and unstructured data.
- Strong analytic skills and business acumen.
- Self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big while paying attention to detail.
- Mentors other engineers on high-quality technical solutions.
- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions (preferred).
- Experience with non-relational databases/data stores (e.g., object storage, document/key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases) (preferred).
