About the role

The Lead Data Engineer position within the L3Harris Enterprise Data and AI team offers an exciting opportunity to lead enterprise-level data lifecycle processes. The successful candidate will oversee the development, maintenance, and optimization of data pipelines, ensuring compliance with data standards and frameworks. This role involves managing data integration, cleansing, and consolidation efforts, primarily utilizing Palantir Foundry to support big data analytics at scale. The Lead Data Engineer will design scalable data solutions, maintain ontologies, and develop dashboards that deliver actionable insights across the enterprise. The position includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to define data governance standards, support the modern data platform, and contribute to architectural reviews and documentation. This role offers flexibility with a remote work option and a unique 9/80 work schedule, providing every other Friday off.

Responsibilities

  • Provide architectural oversight and ensure alignment with company standards for the data platform and related initiatives
  • Lead design reviews for data sourcing, pipelines, models, and ontologies, offering actionable feedback to improve scalability and performance
  • Develop and maintain architectural artifacts, requirements decomposition, and documentation supporting the SDLC
  • Support data architecture review sessions, ensuring proposed solutions adhere to architectural standards
  • Oversee and guide the development and optimization of scalable, reusable, and high-performance data pipelines
  • Utilize Palantir Foundry for data integration, ontology management, and supporting enterprise analytics
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish data governance, metadata, and ontology standards for consistency and clarity
  • Stay current with emerging data technologies and frameworks, recommending improvements to the data platform architecture
  • Assist in building dashboards and visualizations to provide actionable insights for decision-makers
  • Support user training and documentation efforts to ensure effective utilization of data tools and platforms

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 9 years of Palantir experience, or Graduate Degree with at least 7 years of Palantir experience, or 13+ years of Palantir experience in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in Data Pipeline development or with ETL tools such as Palantir Foundry, Azure Data Factory, SSIS, or Python
  • At least 4 years of experience in Data Integration
  • Experience supporting or implementing solutions leveraging Generative AI, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), semantic search, and large language models (LLMs)
  • Proficiency with Palantir Foundry tools such as Ontology Manager, Compass, Code Repository, Solution Designer, OSDK, AI FDE, and AIP Analyst
  • Understanding of Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse development methodologies
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Pandas, Databricks, JavaScript, or Typescript
  • Hands-on experience with Data Pipeline design and development in Palantir Foundry or similar platforms leveraging PySpark and Spark SQL
  • Knowledge of SDLC processes and data governance practices

Schedule
