About the role
This hands-on consulting role supports a fast-paced energy management team focused on data engineering, data pipelines, data warehousing, and ETRM systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and support data pipelines that integrate data from multiple internal and external systems.
- Develop and maintain reporting solutions using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or comparable enterprise reporting platforms.
- Assess, cleanse, validate, and integrate large datasets from diverse sources.
- Create, maintain, and improve technical documentation, data dictionaries, process documentation, and operational procedures.
- Troubleshoot and optimize database performance, including query optimization and performance tuning.
Requirements
- Expert-level experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including database design, query optimization, performance tuning, stored procedures, and ETL development using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Hands-on experience working with Oracle databases, including data extraction, integration, performance analysis, and SQL development.
- Proficiency in Python development, with a focus on data engineering, ETL processes, API integrations, automation, and data transformation workflows.
- Strong understanding of Python data analysis and processing libraries, including Pandas, NumPy, and related frameworks for large-scale data manipulation and analytics.
- Working knowledge of business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Power BI and/or Tableau, including dashboard development, reporting, and data storytelling.
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate, to support workflow automation and low-code application development.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and best practices for data governance, data quality, and metadata management.
- Experience supporting Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) platforms and understanding of energy market operations, trading processes, scheduling, settlements, or risk management is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related discipline/experience.
- Experience with time-series data, market data, pricing models, forecasting models, or financial and commodity trading datasets preferred.
