Data Engineer

About the Role

Ostium is seeking a senior-level data engineer to lead our data initiatives. This role is central to building and executing our vision for data, focusing on optimizing and scaling our data pipeline to meet the unique needs of our platform. This is an on-site position based in our New York office.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, improve, and optimize a data pipeline to handle massive scale effectively.
• Use 100% Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to build, maintain, deploy, and manage applications and services.
• Curate massive datasets, optimize data pipelines, and ensure efficient querying of data.
• Build tools to streamline data ingestion and enable AI-driven querying for the entire team.
• Educate engineers on data pipeline best practices and effective usage.

Requirements

• Technical:
  • Experience with data modeling tools (DBT, sqlmesh) and data orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect).
  • Proficiency with Postgres, Clickhouse, and other OLTP and OLAP data stores.
  • Deep understanding of data storage, computation, and query optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, Docker, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Strong advocate for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Solid grasp of modern data pipelining and best practices.

We have a global team with core offices in New York and Miami. On-site work is expected for those based in these cities, with flexibility for remote work during holidays.
