About the role

Carex is partnering with an insurance industry partner to find an experienced Data Engineer to play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise data warehouse solutions that power analytics and business intelligence initiatives. This role is responsible for building scalable data pipelines, developing modern data models, ensuring data quality, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performing data solutions.

This is a remote opportunity with periodic onsite presence required. Candidates must live and work in Wisconsin and be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Note that this is a W2 only position, and the candidate must be authorized to work in the US both now and in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement scalable data pipelines and integration frameworks that support enterprise analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Design, develop, and optimize enterprise data warehouse solutions and related data marts.
  • Build and maintain dimensional (star schema) data models that accurately represent business processes and support analytical reporting.
  • Optimize data pipelines and data models for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Implement data validation processes and quality checks to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain data pipelines and systems to ensure reliability and uptime.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for data pipelines, data models, and engineering processes.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to data architecture, engineering practices, and modeling standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise data warehouse and analytics solutions.
  • Deep expertise building modern ETL/ELT solutions using Fivetran and dbt.
  • Strong experience designing and supporting Snowflake-based data warehouse environments.
  • Advanced SQL skills with experience using Python or other programming languages.
  • Experience with version control and multi-tier code repository management.
  • Strong experience designing and implementing dimensional (star schema) data models.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools preferred.
  • Experience in the property and casualty insurance industry preferred.
