Data Collection Supervisor, Self-Driving
About the role
Tesla is seeking a high-intensity, action-oriented leader to accelerate vehicle-level testing by supporting and coordinating local operations, assisting with troubleshooting, and incident reporting as needed. This position requires adaptability and excellence in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You will maintain excellent data collection through managing a team of vehicle operators and demonstrating individual excellence across all testing tracks. The role requires flexibility to travel to domestic or international destinations as necessary. Afternoon and graveyard shifts are available, with a 10% premium added to the base salary for these shifts. Must be able to work at least one weekend day.
Responsibilities
- Be an expert in self-driving concepts, deeply tracking data, training drivers across various testing tracks, and providing constructive feedback to the team
- Personally contribute to the AI dataset through your own testing and data collection
- Plan weekly data collection targets and measure progress
- Audit teams’ clips to ensure excellent performance, coach drivers when improvement is needed, and conduct weekly ride-alongs with drivers to ensure quality
- Review and approve timecards, expense reports, travel requests, and schedule shifts for Vehicle Operators
- Support building education materials for data tracks (quizzes, videos, documents) as needed
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and minimum 3 years of driving history
- Ability to work a flexible schedule; on-call during off shifts for escalations
- Experience managing and motivating hourly teams, balancing team culture with excellence to prioritize success
- Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with MacOS, Linux, Windows, and strong MS Office skills
- Ability to navigate and thrive in ambiguous environments
- Familiarity with testing AI-based products and/or building datasets for AI (a plus)

Pay
Competitive pay with a 10% premium added to the base salary for afternoon or graveyard shifts.
