Data Collection Supervisor, Self-Driving
About the role
Tesla is seeking a high-intensity, action-oriented leader to accelerate vehicle-level testing by supporting and coordinating local operations, assisting with troubleshooting, and incident reporting as needed. This position requires adaptability and excellence in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The role involves maintaining excellent data collection through managing a team of vehicle operators and ensuring individual excellence across all testing tracks. Flexibility to travel domestically or internationally is required. Afternoon and graveyard shifts are available, with a 10% premium added to the base salary for these shifts. Must be able to work at least one weekend day.
Responsibilities
- Be an expert in self-driving concepts with the ability to track data deeply, train drivers across various testing tracks, and provide constructive feedback to the team
- Personally contribute to the AI dataset through your own testing and data collection
- Plan data collection targets for each week and measure progress
- Audit teams’ clips to ensure excellent performance, coach drivers when improvement is needed, and conduct weekly ride-alongs with drivers to ensure quality
- Review and approve timecards, expense reports, travel requests, and schedule shifts for Vehicle Operators
- Support building education materials for data tracks (quizzes, videos, documents) as needed
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and minimum 3 years of driving history
- Ability to work a flexible schedule; on-call during off shifts for escalations
- Experience managing and motivating hourly teams, balancing team culture with excellence to prioritize success
- Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with MacOS, Linux, Windows, and strong MS Office skills
- Ability to navigate and thrive in ambiguous environments
- Familiarity with testing AI-based products and/or building datasets for AI (a plus)

Pay
Expected compensation for this role is $82,800 - $124,200 annual salary, plus cash and stock awards and benefits. Pay may vary based on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may include other elements dependent on the position offered.
Schedule
- Afternoon and graveyard shifts available (10% premium added to base salary for these shifts)
