About the role
Trane Technologies is hiring a Data Center Team Leader to support mission-critical data centers and high-reliability facilities. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising HVAC Field Technicians who commission, troubleshoot, repair, and start up advanced HVAC systems that keep essential operations running. You will use your technical expertise in HVAC systems, thermodynamics, mechanical layouts, and pipe fitting to solve complex issues and help ensure maximum uptime. You will collaborate with internal teams and customers on new facility installations and retrofits.
This is a field-based role; work is conducted on-site at customer locations. Required travel overnight to other areas as needed, based on business needs, may include extensive travel at times.
Responsibilities
- Train and develop HVAC Field Technicians, providing technical advice and offering guidance.
- Assist in scheduling, organizing, and dispatching HVAC Field Technicians.
- Assist Service Manager with recommendations for hiring/firing of staff.
- Maintain vehicles by keeping record of service manuals, scheduling and completing repair and maintenance services.
- Work with Project Manager to prepare for on-site installations and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work.
- Evaluate area safety needs/requirements to provide feedback and recommendations to service technicians and assist in the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and training.
Requirements
- Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in HVAC, providing expertise in systems-level knowledge.
- Data Center experience preferred, including familiarity with the industry standard L2–L5 project phases.
- Working knowledge of HVAC products, systems, electronics, and pneumatic controls.
- EPA approved Universal Technician Certification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving, or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
This role is designated as Safety Sensitive and may require passing additional drug screening.
Pay
Hourly Base Pay Range: $28.13 - $68.92. Compensation is tailored to factors such as seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation.
