Data Center Technician

About the role

This is a contract position based out of Santa Clara, CA. The role is fully onsite and requires working overnight shifts on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot a wide variety of server hardware issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Perform advanced break/fix activities on enterprise server systems.
• Order, replace, and return defective hardware components through vendor warranty processes.
• Install firmware updates to ensure systems remain current, secure, and optimized.
• Configure IP addresses, default credentials, and initial server settings.
• Replace damaged cables and hardware components.
• Re-route network cabling and connections.
• Replace optics and transceivers on servers and switches.
• Install upgraded server components and hardware.
• Rack, stack, cable, and prepare servers and network equipment for deployment and remote configuration.
• Provide technical support to Data Center and Lab teams as needed.
• Assist with installation, deployment, and infrastructure projects when required.
• Support Level 1 operations and team responsibilities during high-volume periods.

Requirements

• Strong Data Center Operations experience with a focus on troubleshooting and break/fix support.
• Ability to identify, isolate, and resolve server hardware issues independently.
• Experience working with enterprise servers, network equipment, and data center infrastructure.
• Knowledge of firmware upgrades, hardware replacement procedures, and basic server configuration.
• Familiarity with rack and stack activities, cabling standards, and physical infrastructure deployment.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently during overnight shifts.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to supporting engineering and operations teams.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $37.00 per hour.

Schedule

This is an overnight shift position; candidates must be comfortable working overnight hours on a regular basis.
