Data Center Technician
About the role
The Data Center Operations Team at Fluidstack operates at the scale of a nation, managing power usage equivalent to some countries, with a goal of reaching 100 GW. This team is responsible for deploying infrastructure at unprecedented speeds and ensuring flawless operation even as new facilities are under construction.
Responsibilities
- Rack, cable, and validate GPU servers and network hardware across live data halls, adhering to deployment schedules measured in days rather than weeks.
- Execute structured cabling, optics cleaning, and link testing to ensure all ports pass before handover to production.
- Track every asset movement in the inventory system to maintain accurate rack elevations, cable maps, and counts as the site scales.
- Work safely around live power, following lockout/tagout procedures without shortcuts.
- Manage break-fix tasks on servers, switches, and PDUs, ensuring tickets are closed promptly and accurately.
Requirements
- Experience racking and cabling servers or network gear in a production data center.
- Ability to understand and interpret rack elevations, cable schedules, and port maps without external assistance.
- Methodical troubleshooting skills, including isolating issues, swapping components, verifying fixes, and documenting changes.
- Proven ability to keep a ticket queue clean and ensure closed tickets reflect actual changes made.
- Safe working practices around live power, adhering strictly to lockout/tagout protocols.
- Bonus points for experience with fiber termination and testing, GPU or HPC hardware, DCIM tools, forklift or lift equipment certification.
