Responsibilities
- Data Center Technician position involves in-depth hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair as well as participating in an on-call rotation.
- Supports all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
- Collaborates with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
- Works on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain.
Requirements
- Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.
- Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational.
Qualifications
- 18+ months of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.
- 18+ months of computer layer 1/2 networking experience (including troubleshooting and repair).
- Work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT-related field (e.g. computer science, network engineering, etc.) preferred.
- Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+) preferred.
- Understanding of Linux or similar operating systems preferred.
- Experience in a data center or other critical environment preferred.
- Experience training and onboarding of new team members preferred.
Skills
- Technical abilities leading to the resolution of technical issues brought by the customer base.
- Problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting and repair of hardware and network issues.
- Proactive issue detection and reporting to maintain service level agreements.
- Process innovation to improve effectiveness.
Benefits
- Lump sum stipend will be provided to eligible candidates who relocate for this position.
Pay
- Salary range: $80,000 - $120,000 annually.
Schedule
- Shift work that includes days/nights/weekends/holidays.
