Data Center Technician
About the role
This position supports Amazon's customers in multiple locations. It involves hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and may include participation in an on-call rotation. Candidates should be willing to work both independently and with a team, prioritize work, organize tasks, communicate effectively, and react quickly.
Responsibilities
- Meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) against assigned trouble tickets via a directed workflow.
- Be the first line of technical troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Perform regular server hardware repairs (drives, motherboards, etc.), network, and server hardware and OS-related repairs.
- Work with cross-functional teams on routine tasks.
- Adhere to security and safety best practices in the data center.
- Participate in team meetings for metric analysis and goal achievement.
- Identify and help create documentation and process improvements for the data center environment.
- Perform server upgrades, rebuilds, and scheduled works as required.
- Interact with third-party vendors and contractors.
- Contribute to the development of other team members.
Requirements
Regular lifting and moving up to 40 pounds; ability to work in a 24/7 environment with an ability to participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours support; some regional travel may be required.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
- 1+ years of computer networking experience.
- High school or equivalent diploma.
Skills
A strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem-solving, maintaining service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting, identifying and creating documentation and process improvements, and performing server upgrades and rebuilds.
