On-siteEngineering$150k–$200k/yrFull-time
About the role
The Data Center Design Team at Fluidstack is responsible for leading the design, development, and execution of 50GW+ of data centers this decade. They also drive the next generation of liquid cooling and electrical distribution systems, develop and scale first-of-a-kind modular data centers, and influence behind-the-meter designs and planning for multi-GW campuses.
Responsibilities
- Support the structural engineering workstream across a multi-site development portfolio from site screening through design, permitting, and construction completion.
- Support structural due diligence for greenfield and conversion sites: foundation conditions, existing-structure assessments, and geotechnical constraints.
- Review geotechnical reports and assign structural design actions from soil bearing capacities, settlement risk, and seismic classification.
- Develop and maintain structural basis of design, standard details, and specs, and coordinate with civil, geotech, and MEP teams.
- Manage external structural engineers of record through design milestones, reviewing deliverables for quality through IFC.
- Identify structural cost risks during site selection, including retrofit complexity on conversions.
Requirements
- You've worked structural engineering on large-scale buildings or infrastructure, ideally owner/developer-side, and you want deep data center exposure.
- You read geotechnical reports and translate soil and seismic data into structural design actions.
- You coordinate with civil, geotech, and MEP and manage external engineers of record through IFC.
- You know foundations, structural steel, and building envelope systems for large-format buildings.
- You spot structural cost and constructability risk early, not after the site is locked.
- Bonus: PE license or active pursuit. Data center, industrial, or mission-critical structures. ETABS, RISA, or RAM. Seismic design. Conversion and retrofit experience.
Qualifications
- Experience in structural engineering on large-scale buildings or infrastructure, preferably on the owner/developer side.
- Knowledge of geotechnical reports and their translation into structural design actions.
- Experience coordinating with civil, geotech, and MEP teams and managing external engineers of record through IFC.
- Understanding of foundations, structural steel, and building envelope systems for large-format buildings.
- Ability to identify and mitigate structural cost and constructability risks early in the process.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or active pursuit in data center, industrial, or mission-critical structures.
- Experience with ETABS, RISA, or RAM, and knowledge of seismic design.
- Experience with conversion and retrofit projects.
