Data Center Strategy & Planning Manager
About the role
We are looking for a Data Center Strategy & Planning Manager to join the Strategic Planning team within the Data Center organization. In this role, you'll help build Meta’s global data center roadmap, develop end-to-end infrastructure scaling strategies, and create plans to drive efficiency in our infrastructure. You will drive investment decisions covering billions of dollars and scale our data center footprint to meet growing product and service needs. This individual contributor role involves developing and leading transformational strategic initiatives, evaluating trade-offs, presenting recommendations to executive leadership, and overseeing implementation.
This highly cross-functional role requires collaboration with data center capacity stakeholders, including capacity engineering, network engineering, construction, site selection, site & facility operations, network, and finance.
Responsibilities
- Leverage technical experience to identify and build large transformational programs and initiatives across Infrastructure that scale Meta’s Data Center footprint efficiently.
- Develop new Data Center planning strategies focused on improving reliability, cost and operational efficiency, including reductions in deployment times, improvements in data center power utilization, and service placement optimizations.
- Optimize network, hardware, and data center infrastructure footprints to drive efficiency.
- Develop detailed project evaluation plans for data center evolution and set the pace to drive closure.
- Apply quantitative techniques, develop decision scenarios, and evaluate trade-offs to drive multi-billion dollar infrastructure decisions at the highest organizational level.
- Own the communications strategy for data center planning decisions, including executive-level briefs and detailed project status updates.
- Use technical judgment to drive new project evaluations, technology reviews, and proposals while building consensus.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a directly related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in a management, technical, or engineering field.
- 12+ years of experience in Infrastructure/Cloud/Hardware with a background in Strategy, Capacity Planning, Supply Chain Optimization, or technology strategy consulting.
- Experience distilling various data points into actionable insights and recommendations for executive communication and decision-making.
- Business acumen and intuition, with the ability to form and refine hypotheses into actionable analysis and recommendations.
- Problem-solving and strategy skills, including expansive opportunity identification and framing of complex/ambiguous problems.
- Experience completing multiple cloud/infrastructure/hardware efficiency or optimization projects.
- Technical experience in infrastructure, hardware, or similar designs.
- Experience collaborating with internal and external organizations and individuals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews).
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements).
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies.

Pay
$170,000/year to $238,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits. Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
