Data Center Solution Architect
About the role
GE Vernova is in a rapid growth phase in the data center market. Come join a global operation delivering innovative power solutions uniquely from "generation to GPU", to the world's leading AI data center gigawatt-scale infrastructure projects. You will be a pivotal hyperscaler and colocation data center solution technical advocate and have a pulse on the latest architecture and design trends and tradeoffs to usher GEV into the next exciting era in data center evolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a "grid-to-GPU" power train technical architect for hyperscalers (AI training, AI inference, general purpose cloud), colocation (AI-centric and general tenancy models). Should be very knowledgeable about industry migration to 800V DC architectures.
- Serve as GEV's primary customer-facing technical authority for all AI training campus and hyperscale DC opportunities. Must have good customer presence and confident in solution architecture.
- Develop and own GEV "Campus Power Reference Architectures" — experience in designing and documenting single-line diagrams and power system designs for each of the data center archetypes using GEV products.
- Lead technical discovery sessions with hyperscaler DC engineering teams — documenting power requirements, site constraints, and competitive install base.
- Author technical proposals and power system studies (load flow, fault analysis, arc-flash) in support of RFP responses.
- Collaborate with NPI/PM team to validate new product designs against real customer power systems (system design, sizing, and integration).
- Conduct internal technical training sessions for COE BD team and BU sales (minimum quarterly) on Data Center power architecture.
- Represent and drive standards for GEV in OCP, Nvidia, other relevant organizations (joint role with Standards Liaison).
- Build and maintain a library of GEV data center customer case studies and reference designs for use in proposals and marketing. Help generate detailed competitive analysis.
- Serve as the center of competency for data center infrastructure design and operations/maintenance (full lifecycle perspective and knowledge). Disseminate knowledge within GEV technical community.
- Be able to guide roadmap, optimizations, TCO planning and analysis.
- Must be able to travel, particularly within North America and EU, plus other locations.
- Should have experience in infrastructure facility monitoring, telemetry, AI training and inference workload profiles.
- Exposure in designing facility cooling and liquid cooling at the rack a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Overall 10+ years of relevant data center power train architect experience at hyperscaler, colocation, or top-tier OEM supplier with extensive hyperscale experience.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time including local and international.
- Must have personally designed, peer-reviewed, and/or operated/maintained the electrical systems for at least one hyperscale AI training (>=500MW) campus.
- Must have experience with: AC/DC (esp 800VDC) power train and distribution architecture; MV/LV switchgear and distribution architectures and equipment; MV/LV UPS, solid-state transformers; Battery Energy Storage Systems; Source/load Power Quality issues and ways to resolve; System TCO / design tradeoffs.
- Aware of relevant Open Compute Project, NVidia/AMD, IEEE, NEMA, UL/IEC, ASHRAE, Uptime/TIA standards, protocols, and practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Selected candidate preferred to be based in a major US Data Center markets: Pacific Time Zone (esp. SF Bay Area, Seattle).
- Real-world Uptime / Reliability standards and compliant implementations.
- Grid and islanded/microgrid architecture.
