About the role
AWS is seeking a Senior Data Center Project Architect to join its design team in Herndon, VA. This role involves designing, planning, delivering, and operating all AWS global infrastructure. The architect will work on the most challenging problems, collaborating with various teams to ensure high standards for safety and security while providing scalable infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Communicate conceptual designs and create/maintain project documentation before, during, and after construction.
- Maintain Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for architectural elements.
- Review and inform design RFPs.
- Manage external design consultants through the design and construction process.
- Collaborate with internal and external Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and Cabling design engineers.
- Effectively communicate design standards to internal and external project partners.
- Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
- Think outside the box to find innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce costs without compromising quality or reliability.
- Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction reviews, and interfacing with design consultants.
Requirements
- Professional Engineer License NCARB recognized architecture license.
- 5+ years of design experience in commercial / industrial / other complex technical projects.
- 2+ years leading sub-consultants and project teams.
- Solid working proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to travel internationally.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in building codes, regulations, and standards including IBC or equivalent, NFPA, & IFC.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $116,800.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually.
Schedule
Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
