This position requires the ability to work any shift as part of a 24x7 coverage rotation. The role involves prolonged periods of sitting in front of a computer in an office environment with normal office noise and occasional construction noise. Dirt, dust, and grease may be present, and work may occasionally be conducted outdoors or in equipment enclosures with exposure to typical U.S. climatic conditions.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day duties of onsite Data Center Technicians (DCTs) across one or multiple sites.
- Ensure monitoring of all infrastructure on site and escalate issues as needed to various departments within the organization.
- Work jointly with the Maintenance team to develop, schedule, and monitor a preventative maintenance program to keep equipment in proper working condition.
- Ensure the site is kept clean at all times and plan/implement a continual work schedule to maintain company property in a safe and healthy condition.
- Oversee and coordinate activities of contractors engaged in the maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Inspect all work performed by outside contractors/vendors at completion to ensure standards of workmanship and safety are maintained.
- Maintain a positive relationship with all customers/clients at their facilities and recommend/implement equipment needs to improve production efficiency or achieve cost reduction.
- Manage and evaluate Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) at the facility via the Building Management System (BMS) to ensure efficient operation.
- Oversee all infrastructure-related construction projects managed by internal teams and built by local contractors.
- Work with customers upon move-in following construction of their environment.
- Ensure all Security policies are adhered to by all DCTs to achieve compliance.
- Closely monitor all components of infrastructure through the BMS system to identify and report problems, resolve issues when possible, or engage appropriate internal team members for troubleshooting.
- Train all DCTs to understand the functionality of the BMS system so they can react accordingly to unexpected issues.
- Responsible for purchasing/ordering all consumables needed at the facilities, including customer order needs and tools for installations.
- Train all DCTs on DataBank’s Emergency Response Procedures and conduct monthly testing to ensure understanding of all protocols.
- Manage weekly work schedules for 24x7x365 coverage and maintain an on-call list for additional support.
- Ensure the Video Surveillance system is operational and that DCTs monitor the facility 24/7/365.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of data center experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong management and supervisory skills.
- Ability to train individuals as needed.
- People management and mentorship skills to help employees advance within the organization.
- LEED certification is a bonus but not required.
- Assist with daily operational duties including shipping/receiving and facility walkthroughs.
- Respond to infrastructure-related events (power, cooling, etc.).
- Address break-fix issues around the facility and coordinate with mechanical/electrical contractors for repairs.
- Train DCTs on using NetSuite to issue Purchase Orders and document site walkthroughs.
- Support customer needs on an as-needed basis.

Schedule
On-site standard working hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8 AM–4 PM. These hours may change to accommodate site projects as necessary.
