Data Center Manager

This role is part of CBRE’s Critical & Technical Services function, providing specialized technical maintenance and operational support in mission-critical client environments. The position requires on-site presence at the Data Center facility in Houston, TX, on a dayshift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Provide formal supervision to employees, including monitoring training and development, conducting performance evaluations, and coaching.
• Oversee recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of new employees.
• Coordinate and manage the team’s daily activities, including setting work schedules, assigning tasks, and cross-training staff.
• Set and track staff and department deadlines; mentor and coach as needed.
• Manage the client relationship and collaborate with stakeholders to meet all Master Service Agreement (MSA) requirements.
• Ensure completion of configuration management, work orders, preventive maintenance, and repairs within agreed SLA timeframes.
• Resolve unforeseen circumstances and escalate to the client or senior management when necessary.
• Verify facility infrastructure equipment installations are completed within the agreed SLA timeframe.
• Oversee Information Technology equipment power installations, relocations, and decommission requests.
• Conduct daily reviews of data hall cleanup routines and findings.
• Confirm all deployments are installed to applicable internal, manufacturer, and industry standards.
• Ensure records are updated following any changes and documentation is maintained for all processes.
• Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments for presentation to senior management.
• Lead by example, modeling behaviors consistent with CBRE’s RISE values.
• Influence parties of shared interests to reach agreements.
• Apply knowledge of your discipline and its integration with others to achieve team and departmental objectives.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day and moderately complex issues in existing systems and processes.

Requirements

• Technical expertise in monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting maintenance activities for UPS systems, diesel generators, ATS/STS equipment, PDUs, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH units, and power distribution infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience using BMS, EPMS, DCIM, and SCADA platforms for facility monitoring, alarm response, incident management, and uptime assurance.
• Strong background in preventive maintenance, vendor coordination, remote hands support, structured cabling, change management, commissioning support, and maintaining operational excellence in high-availability data center environments.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Leadership experience in staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, performance measurement, appraisal, and retention.
• Ability to guide the exchange of sensitive, complex information, convey performance expectations, and handle problems.
• Leadership skills to motivate teams and impact quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
• Extensive organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.
