Responsibilities
- Operate mainframe systems in a secure DoD environment, ensuring continuous system availability.
- Monitor system consoles, JES queues, and automated operations tools to maintain stable production processing.
- Execute batch job scheduling, restarts, reruns, and failure resolution following approved JCL and operational procedures.
- Perform IPLs, system startups, shutdowns, and recovery actions in accordance with TMs, SOPs, and established protocols.
- Manage DASD, tape libraries, printers, and other peripheral devices.
- Respond to system alerts and incidents; perform first-level troubleshooting and escalate per incident management procedures.
- Maintain accurate logs, shift documentation, and audit-ready records supporting cybersecurity and configuration management requirements.
- Support COOP and Disaster Recovery exercises and real-world events.
- Enforce access controls, data handling rules, and OPSEC/IA requirements.
- Clock in and out as required to support 24x7 coverage.
Qualifications
- Must pass initial and recurring background investigations.
- Must comply with all DoD physical security, cybersecurity, and OPSEC requirements.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience operating enterprise mainframe systems in a production environment.
- Equivalent education or certifications may be considered in place of experience.
- Familiarity with batch scheduling tools and mainframe operational workflows.
- Experience supporting DoD, classified, or highly regulated environments.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays when mission needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting DoD, DISA, or service-specific environments (Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force).
- Knowledge of ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Experience with mainframe automation, monitoring, and console management tools.
- Familiarity with DoD RMF processes and cybersecurity controls.
Clearance Requirements
This position requires a current Secret clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Physical Requirements
