About the role
We are looking for Level 1 and Level 2 Technicians with both inside and outside plant experience, those who have cabled inside and worked with hardware are strongly encouraged to apply. The work is 60% inside plant and 40% outside fiber optic work at a large enterprise level data center.
Key Responsibilities
- Inside Plant Operations:
- Install, configure, and maintain data center hardware, including servers, racks, network equipment, and power distribution units (PDUs).
- Manage cable infrastructure, including structured cabling and fiber optic systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct equipment troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
- Collaborate with network and system engineers to ensure seamless integration of hardware with the data center environment.
- Perform routine inspections to verify environmental and equipment health, including cooling systems and backup power solutions.
- Outside Plant Operations:
- Plan and oversee the installation of external infrastructure such as conduits, cables, poles, and related facilities.
- Ensure proper routing and termination of fiber optic and copper cables for connection between buildings or to external network providers.
- Inspect and maintain outside plant infrastructure to mitigate risks of damage and ensure long-term reliability.
- Work with external contractors and vendors to coordinate installation and repairs of outside plant components.
- Maintain detailed records of outside plant installations, including documentation of routes and system updates.

- Apprentice license: Low Voltage Technician licenses: LV-G
- Low voltage work for all categories under 90 volts listed below (4,000 Hours)
- LV-C
- Low voltage work for communication systems under 90 volts (500 Hours)
Qualifications
- Proven experience in data center operations, preferably with both inside and outside plant infrastructure.
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards and fiber optic technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and engineering documentation.
- Familiarity with environmental systems such as HVAC, electrical backup systems, and fire suppression systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in high-pressure environments.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with cross-functional teams, contractors, and vendors.
