About the Role

A leading technology infrastructure services provider enabling mission-critical data center infrastructure for the world’s technology leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Installation and decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a data center environment.
  • Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, always with an eye on improvement.
  • Provide structured feedback on project progress to stakeholders.
  • Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain data center cleanliness.
  • Follow all production, safety, and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation/redline work.
  • Perform 4-pair continuity testing.
  • Pull all types of low-voltage cable, including copper telecom cable.
  • Perform all types of copper field terminations.
  • Install ladder racking and seismic bracing.
  • Patch network equipment.
  • Read and understand port maps/matrices, job floor plans, and TC drawings.
  • Perform field terminations and labeling for copper and fiber cabling.
  • Affix labels to cabling and power cords, including barcoding equipment and free printed labels.
  • Cut and install threaded rod, Uni-strut, and fiber trough.
  • Create and test bonding whips, straps, and connections.
  • Understand the basics of "FIM" and operate a scanner.
  • Install and test coax cabling (series 6 & 11).
  • Install OSP cables through conduits and maintenance holes.
  • Install pull strings through conduits and ceilings.
  • Install ISP cables through conduits and ceilings.
  • Install box eliminators (mud rings) in drywall.
  • Install and maintain firestopping.
  • Understand and use fiber types (SM/MM/Ribbon).
  • Install and service network equipment.
  • Install ISP/OSP into cable enclosures (OSE).

Requirements

  • Broad understanding of data center infrastructure technologies.
  • Knowledge and use of basic telecom hand tools.
  • Understanding of customer service.
  • Clear understanding of job safety requirements.
  • Familiarity with wiring schemes and wiring tests.
  • Reports to Operations Manager and takes daily direction from Technician, Technician II, Lead Technicians, Senior Technicians, and Advanced Senior Technicians.

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily walking, standing, and bending for extended periods, with some sitting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with verbal, written, visual, and listening skills.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate required equipment, including computer keyboards, mice, and other technical instruments.
  • Able to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to pull cables.

Hiring Preferences

We are open to hiring candidates from any state but will scrutinize resumes more closely for candidates with frequent job changes. Specific preferences by role:

  • Project Managers (PMs): No state restrictions; open to hiring from anywhere.
  • Superintendents: Prefer to avoid NY, NJ, MA, WA, AK, and HI. Will consider CA and IL candidates only if they have long work tenure.
  • Foremen: Prefer to avoid NY, NJ, MA, WA, AK, HI, CA, IL, ME, VT, and DE.
