Job Description
Peterson Power Systems has a need for a Data Center EPG Traveling Technician. The person will work remotely and will be required to travel to data center locations throughout the country.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
- Promote and work in a manner consistent with Contamination Control guidelines.
- Support company safety and housekeeping standards.
- Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship.
- Perform the following service operations with occasional supervision:
- Follow manufacturer and company service guidelines and procedures to ensure quality work.
- Analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions.
- Preserve component failure information for accurate failure analysis.
- Perform pre-delivery setup, installation, and start-up on all makes and models of Caterpillar engines, generators, and related products.
- Repair, replace, and rebuild engines and related systems and components of Cat and Non-Cat products in Industrial and EPG applications.
- Perform inspections on equipment as needed.
- Write service reports that accurately document activities.
- Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and timecards in an accurate and timely manner to enable other employees to do their job in a timely manner.
- Solicit information regarding opportunities for engine system sales and service and pass information to engine systems Sales staff and Product Support Sales Representative (PSSR) in a timely manner.
- Operate company, rental, or personal vehicle as needed to transport parts and equipment and perform other field service duties.
- Ensure assigned company vehicle maintains a clean professional appearance and is in proper working order.
- Attend scheduled technical training and safety training in person or online (virtual).
- Work overtime as needed within labor law guidelines.
- Travel up to 100% of the time to meet customer service requirements including overnight stays and out of territory travel.
- Be on call to respond to customer service needs during the evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
Qualifications
- Achieve an Associate’s degree from a fully accredited college or obtain a certificate from a technical/vocational school in Diesel Technology or other closely related field; and a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in power generation or engine service, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Applicants must have the ability to travel 100% of the time.
- Completion of a certified electrical safety course.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
