Data Center Engineer
About the role
As a Data Center Engineer, you'll work closely with server and network engineers from Epic's internal IT team, helping to ensure all IT equipment in our data centers runs efficiently and effectively. You'll be responsible for taking into account various data center variables when performing installs, including physical space, power consumption, network connectivity, cooling, monitoring, and existing infrastructure topology.
Responsibilities
- Take into account various data center variables when performing installs, including physical space, power consumption, network connectivity, cooling, monitoring, and existing infrastructure topology.
- Leverage technologies like Terraform and Ansible to deploy infrastructure as code.
- Work within a small, collaborative team to keep Epic up and running, supporting some of the nation’s largest healthcare organizations in improving patient care.
Requirements
- Extremely attention to detail and high level of organization.
- Ability to work and make decisions independently.
- Strong documentation, project management, and communication skills.
- Troubleshooting skills.
- Previous information technology experience.
- Prior data center, server, or network engineer experience – especially with Cisco IOS or NX-OS platforms – is preferred.
