TDS provides construction, testing, start-up, and commissioning services to the Power Generation, Oil & Gas/Petrochemical, Heavy Process, and other Industrial end markets.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled local Electrical Commissioning Field Service Technician to join our team and support a large Data Center project in the Lancaster, Texas area.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Acceptance Testing for electrical equipment within Data Center Facilities.
  • Safely use hand and power tools, metering & testing equipment, and precision instruments.
  • Collaborate with internal team members and customers/end-users to complete projects within defined timelines.
  • Follow safety protocols and adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5+ years of experience in switchgear installation, testing, and maintenance, preferably in industrial, utility, and/or data center environments.
  • Expertise in switchgear maintenance, troubleshooting, and breaker installation.
  • Strong electrical aptitude, understanding of power systems, and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of LDL, L2, L3 inspections and testing procedures.
  • Proficiency in secondary injection testing of breakers and PT/CT wiring installations.
  • Familiarity with bus installations, meter configurations, and control wiring.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with testing and maintenance tools (multimeters, megohmmeters, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and providing technical support.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues and provide timely resolutions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with daily reporting and documentation of work performed.
  • Willingness to travel to various project sites within the U.S.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific electrical code, regulations, and related safety standards/protocols (OSHA, NFPA 70E).

Physical Requirements

  • Lift, carry, and/or move up to 75 pounds repeatedly.
  • Climb ladders, staircases, step stools, stand, walk, sit, and operate vehicles for extended periods.
  • Bend, stoop, crawl, and work in awkward positions or confined spaces for several hours.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including intense heat/cold, muddy, and wet environments.
  • Perform precision tasks with instruments and fittings.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing.

Schedule

Full-time Monday – Friday (5-10's) with additional overtime.
