Job Duties
- Commission and repair standby power generators and related power-generation systems at data center sites, verifying that equipment is installed, tested, and operating to design parameters.
- Perform startup, functional testing, and load-bank testing; accurately record instrumentation and commissioning data.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose generator controls (AC and DC), voltage regulators, engine control units, and exhaust aftertreatment systems using electronic diagnostic tools.
- Perform preventative maintenance, field modifications, and warranty corrections in line with your completed training.
- Conduct failure analysis and document findings, corrective actions, and results clearly.
- Cook daily with the site commissioning team — project lead, service coordinator, and contractors — to keep the project on schedule.
- Follow all site safety and compliance requirements, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), NFPA 70E, and OSHA standards, plus data center site protocols and etiquette.
- Maintain accurate records to support warranty, commissioning, and customer reporting.
Job Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years of generator service, power generation, or commissioning experience (data center experience a plus), or equivalent training and experience.
- Working knowledge of standby power generators, generator controls, electrical systems, and diesel engines.
- Comfort using electronic diagnostic tools and commissioning/construction-management platforms (e.g., Procore).
- Willingness and ability to travel to jobsites and to be available for on-call support as project schedules require.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills, precision, attention to detail, and excellent documentation habits.
- Commitment to completing a structured commissioning and safety training path (LOTO, NFPA 70E, OSHA 10, electrical, commissioning, and failure analysis) — provided and paid for by the company.
- EGSA certification is a plus — and if you don’t have it yet, we’ll help you earn it.
