Data Center Campus Electrical Engineer
About the role
Our thirst for technology is a part of everything we do. The Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into the future. Our lab mirrors a research and development department – cutting-edge strategies are born, tested and tested again. Along with a team of great minds, you take on complex topics like how we use power or how to run state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly facilities. You're a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements – even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians.
Responsibilities
- Define data center system-level, product architecture, and research and development, while helping to develop operations and maintenance procedures for systems/processes.
- Conduct engineering analysis and research designs and methods of data center equipment and facilities.
- Ensure designs and installations meet requirements (e.g., predicted cooling, structural, operational concerns, etc.).
- Provide expert technical support to data center services and operations teams, defining electrical system design requirements for multiple data center projects from inception to completion.
- Work closely with the core engineering team to provide site-specific requirements during the development of the basis of design (BOD) and coordinate system-level schematics with the EOR.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Certification in Engineer in Training (EIT) Fundamentals of Engineering (FE).
- 3 years of experience in mission critical facility design and construction environments.
- Experience in electrical infrastructure.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time as required.
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering, Business or other relevant field.
- Certification in Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Experience in estimating, electrical design, operation, and commissioning of substations, switchgear, ATP/ATS, emergency power systems and their control systems, power monitoring, and electrical protection.
- Experience with cross-discipline teams (e.g., structural, civil, IT/Telecom, security, mechanical, architectural).
- Experience in design, construction, commissioning of high voltage substations, medium or low voltage electrical distribution systems, AC/DC systems, associated power management or SCADA tools and with medium voltage systems.
- Experience working with data center equipment and environments with an understanding of start up/commissioning processes.
