About the role

This role is ideally suited to an engagement manager or principal from a top-tier consulting firm or similar industry transformation role looking to transition into a blue-chip corporate environment while maintaining strategic exposure and accelerating their leadership trajectory.

The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping and governing the investment agenda across the D&A division, ensuring capital is deployed effectively to drive growth, innovation, and resilience.

Responsibilities

  • Investment Strategy & Planning
    • Partner with senior D&A leadership to translate strategic priorities into a clear, actionable investment roadmap.
    • Lead the end-to-end investment planning process, including business case development, prioritisation, and capital allocation across a multi-hundred-million-pound portfolio.
    • Ensure alignment between investment decisions and D&A’s growth, innovation, and risk management objectives.
  • Portfolio Prioritisation & Governance
    • Design and run robust portfolio prioritisation frameworks to optimise return on investment and strategic impact.
    • Establish and maintain best-in-class investment governance, ensuring transparency, consistency, and executive-level clarity.
    • Provide high-quality materials and insights to support decision-making at Executive Committee and Board-level forums.
  • Performance Management & Insights
    • Track and evaluate portfolio performance, ensuring delivery against financial targets, strategic outcomes, and milestones.
    • Develop clear, insightful reporting and dashboards to enable proactive management of investment trade-offs and risks.
    • Identify opportunities to reallocate capital dynamically in response to changing business priorities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Influence
    • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across Product, Technology, Operations, Finance, Risk, and Strategy.
    • Act as a trusted advisor to D&A leadership, bringing structured thinking, analytical rigour, and independent challenge.
    • Communicate complex analyses and recommendations clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Problem Solving & Execution
    • Lead complex, ambiguous problem-solving efforts—structuring issues, synthesising data, and driving actionable recommendations.
    • Proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities, and work collaboratively to resolve them at pace.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in investment planning processes and tools.

Requirements

  • Background in a top-tier strategy consulting firm, ideally at engagement manager or principal level, or similar industry strategy or transformation role.
  • Proven experience in strategy, investment planning, or large-scale transformation programmes.
  • Exposure to financial services, data businesses, and technology-led organisations is advantageous.

Skills

  • Outstanding analytical capability—able to structure complex problems and derive clear, actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills—able to influence senior stakeholders with clarity and confidence.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration—comfortable operating across a highly matrixed, global organisation.
  • Attention to detail and quality—consistently delivers best-in-class outputs under tight timelines.
  • Commercial acumen—strong understanding of financial drivers, business cases, and value creation.

Personal Attributes

  • Energetic, proactive self-starter with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Curious and intellectually rigorous, with a passion for solving complex problems.
  • Resilient and adaptable, able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • High leadership potential, with ambition to grow into senior roles.
  • Foundational understanding of Artificial Intelligence or a strong passion to grow in this space.
  • Embraces a product-led mindset—prioritising user experience, data-driven decisions, and continuous improvement.
