Description
The Data Analyst will support MAP’s research plan by collecting, organizing, and analyzing data related to housing instability, academic performance, school attendance, neighborhood conditions, and socioeconomic disparities. This role will help translate public and nonprofit datasets into practical insights that can guide MAP’s programs, partnerships, and measurable outcomes. The Data Analyst will play a key role in ensuring that recommendations are grounded in evidence and clearly connected to the needs of students and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and review relevant datasets from NYSED, Census sources, government agencies, and nonprofit reports;
- Clean and organize data;
- Develop summary tables and charts as needed;
- Analyze trends connected to student homelessness and educational outcomes;
- Prepare a data analysis brief;
- Contribute findings to the final research report and MAP action plan.
Qualifications
- Experience with spreadsheets, data cleaning, basic statistics, public datasets, and data visualization;
- Able to explain findings in accessible language;
- Attention to detail;
- Interest in education, housing, youth development, or social impact research.
