About the Role

The Data Reporting Analyst supports pricing, underwriting, claims, product performance, and business reporting by analyzing data, preparing reports, and delivering insights that support strategic decision-making. This role works closely with actuaries, underwriters, claims professionals, and business stakeholders while developing expertise in insurance products, data analytics, and reporting technologies.

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio (Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities

• Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Analyze internal and external datasets to support business operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare recurring reports for pricing, underwriting, claims, and product performance.
  • Review data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Identify trends, patterns, risks, and business opportunities through data analysis.
  • Support data-driven decision-making across multiple business functions.
• Financial & Insurance Analytics
  • Prepare and maintain reports covering premiums, reserves, policy benefits, and loss ratios.
  • Assist with pricing and underwriting analyses.
  • Support product performance evaluations and insurance reporting initiatives.
  • Analyze financial and operational metrics to improve business performance.
  • Contribute to insurance-related analytical projects.
• Reporting & Visualization
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and presentation materials for business stakeholders.
  • Create data visualizations that communicate analytical findings effectively.
  • Summarize complex information for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure reports are accurate, timely, and aligned with business requirements.
  • Support ongoing reporting improvements and automation initiatives.
• Documentation & Data Governance
  • Document analytical methodologies, rating factors, and data sources.
  • Maintain clear records of reporting processes and analytical activities.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy in data management practices.
  • Support organizational data governance standards.
  • Assist with maintaining documentation for reporting procedures.
• Business Support
  • Prepare analytical summaries and business reports for leadership.
  • Respond to requests for data analysis from internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with special projects supporting pricing, underwriting, and claims teams.
  • Provide actionable insights that support business planning.
  • Collaborate with business partners to understand reporting requirements.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with actuaries, underwriters, claims professionals, and data teams.
  • Build strong relationships with internal business stakeholders.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and reporting initiatives.
  • Communicate analytical findings clearly and professionally.
  • Support collaborative problem-solving and process improvement efforts.
• Continuous Learning & Process Improvement
  • Build knowledge of insurance operations, actuarial concepts, and company systems.
  • Learn new reporting tools, analytical methods, and business processes.
  • Recommend improvements that enhance reporting efficiency and data quality.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and analytical best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

Qualifications

• Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
  • Zero to two years of relevant experience in data analysis, finance, insurance, or a related field.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and communicate findings clearly.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Preferred
  • Internship, co-op, academic project, insurance, finance, or data analytics experience.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Python, R, SQL, or similar reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and business intelligence platforms.
  • Knowledge of insurance products, underwriting, or actuarial concepts.
  • Experience creating dashboards, reports, and business presentations.
