About The Role

The Data Analyst role at CareFirst is a critical position designed to transform complex data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will serve as a thought leader in data analysis, utilizing advanced programming skills and analytical tools to explore, interpret, and visualize data from various sources. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, develop data-driven solutions, and communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The Data Analyst will also mentor less experienced team members and lead initiatives to optimize data processes and platforms, ensuring the organization leverages data to enhance operational efficiency and business growth.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Business, or a related field.
  • In lieu of a degree, 12 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in analytical or quantitative roles.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Big Data and NoSQL platforms, with a proven track record of delivering production-scale projects.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in analytical tools, programming languages, and platforms such as SQL, Python, R, or similar.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex data insights clearly.
  • Able to learn quickly, adapt to changing priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in data exploration through programming, utilizing advanced knowledge of multiple database structures.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to generate insights and develop business recommendations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, supporting stakeholders with data-related inquiries and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Research and analyze data flows across complex operational and analytical data ecosystems.
  • Gather and manage business and technical requirements from stakeholders to deliver effective data-driven solutions.
  • Produce and review technical documentation aligned with professional standards.
  • Lead in the design, development, validation, and delivery of data solutions that inform business decisions.
  • Mentor team members and guide less experienced staff to foster professional growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize data processes and ensure data quality and integrity.
