About the role
We are seeking a highly technical professional with strong data analysis, scripting, and cybersecurity knowledge to support the FAA Telecommunications and Integrated Services (TIS) environment.
Responsibilities
- Analyze large volumes of network, security, and operational data to identify trends, anomalies, potential security risks, and compliance issues.
- Develop and maintain scripts and automated processes to collect, transform, validate, and report on security-related data.
- Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities, including pivot tables, complex formulas, lookups, Power Query, and data modeling techniques to support analysis and reporting requirements.
- Perform data integrity assessments to verify the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of network and security datasets.
- Reconcile data across multiple systems and sources to identify discrepancies and ensure data reliability.
- Analyze and validate network security configurations, firewall rules, routing information, VPN configurations, access controls, vulnerability data, and asset inventories.
- Support cybersecurity teams by validating security control data, configuration records, system inventories, and vulnerability management information.
- Create dashboards, reports, metrics, and data visualizations that provide insight into security posture, network performance, and compliance status.
- Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency through automation and process improvement.
- Support Federal cybersecurity initiatives by ensuring data used for compliance, reporting, and risk management aligns with applicable standards and requirements.
- Assist with assessments related to technology modernization efforts, network transitions, security enhancements, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, network engineering, infrastructure, and program management teams to support security operations and continuous monitoring activities.
- Communicate technical findings, trends, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 0-5 years of experience in cybersecurity, network security, security operations, technical data analysis, or related IT disciplines.
- Strong data analysis skills with the ability to assess large datasets for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and security relevance.
- Experience using scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar tools to automate data collection, validation, transformation, and reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, complex formulas, lookups, Power Query, data validation, and reporting.
- Ability to analyze and validate network security data, including firewall rules, network configurations, access controls, vulnerability data, and asset inventories.
- Understanding of core networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls, IDS/IPS technologies, and WAN/LAN environments.
- Knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure and networking technologies, including IPv4 and IPv6.
- Familiarity with Federal cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including NIST RMF, FISMA, and NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5.
- Ability to identify data discrepancies, anomalies, and potential security risks through quantitative analysis and technical review.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
- U.S. Citizen or Green Card Permanent Resident with a minimum of three (3) years of U.S. residency.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA Public Trust.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting federal government programs, preferably within the FAA, Department of Transportation, or other civilian federal agencies.

- Experience performing data integrity assessments and validating security-related datasets used for compliance, risk management, auditing, or operational decision-making.
- Hands-on experience analyzing network security data, including firewall policies, routing information, VPN configurations, security monitoring outputs, vulnerability data, and asset inventories.
- Experience developing scripts and automation solutions to improve data quality, reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and security reporting.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management, asset management, configuration management, and continuous monitoring programs.
- Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), defense-in-depth principles, Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR), and modern cybersecurity practices.
- Familiarity with network virtualization technologies, including Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), SD-WAN, and cloud-based networking concepts.
- Ability to evaluate security and operational data within large-scale, mission-critical, or safety-critical environments.
- Experience supporting security documentation efforts, including System Security Plans (SSPs), risk assessments, POA&Ms, and continuous monitoring artifacts.
- Experience collaborating with engineers, program managers, cybersecurity teams, infrastructure teams, and government stakeholders.
- Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Splunk, ELK, or similar platforms.
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, Security+, CCNA, CySA+, Network+, SSCP, GSEC, or equivalent certifications.
- Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings and recommendations to diverse audiences.
