About the role
USAA seeks a dedicated Actuarial Analyst I who will independently apply complex technical and actuarial methodologies to complete unstructured projects. This role offers remote eligibility in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel, and requires working on-site 4 days per week for those within a 60-mile radius of a USAA office.
Responsibilities
- Independently applies complex technical and actuarial methodologies to complete unstructured projects.
- Supports rate level indications through trend analysis and translates business problems into technical requirements.
- Runs catastrophe models and interprets results to support business activities.
- Utilizes actuarial, mathematical, or statistical techniques to augment actuarial work product.
- Creates and delivers training to teammates on mechanics of actuarial tools and processes.
- Solves unstructured business problems using demonstrated competency with relevant actuarial, mathematical, and statistical techniques.
- Identifies compliance gaps and process improvements, recommending solutions.
- Led unit initiatives and participates in cross-functional efforts as a technical subject matter expert.
- Communicates insights and solutions to all audiences, including executive leadership.
- Synthesizes complex and conflicting information into a clear and influential value proposition.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related Actuarial/business/analytical experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 4 years of Actuarial or analytical business experience.
- No more than 2 Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams away from Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) Credential and All Validation of Education Experience (VEEs) completed.
- Demonstrated competency with relevant actuarial, mathematical, and statistical techniques and approaches used to support fact-based decision-making.
- Intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, developing analysis queries and procedures in Python, R, SQL, SAS, BI tools or other analysis software, and relevant industry data & methods.
- Experience communicating complex solutions and analysis to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
Qualifications
- A passion for creative and innovative work that improves existing processes and creates new, repeatable and automated workflows that enhance team productivity.
- Basic understanding of GLM or GBM modeling algorithms.
- Intermediate knowledge of Model Risk Management, Model Governance, and Regulatory requirements.
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

Pay
The salary range for this position is: $103,450 - $186,210.
