Data Analysis Manager - Strategy and Analytics
About the role
As a Data Analyst on the team, you will leverage your deep expertise in SQL and data transformation to extract, model, and transform large, complex datasets. This role requires a thorough understanding of database structures, warehousing best practices, query profiling, and optimization techniques for data modeling and governance. You will support analysts in the Strategy & Analytics team and other data customers across the organization who rely on data, metrics, and insights.
Responsibilities
- Own the transformation layer, designing and implementing data cubes, warehouses, and other data models to serve users effectively.
- Define, manage, and implement the analytics engineering and infrastructure roadmap.
- Level up data models, infrastructure, and dashboard interfaces to drive effective self-service.
- Liaise with team members and other data customers to understand and meet their analytical needs.
- Drive quality metadata and data discovery with a semantic layer for both AI and humans.
- Work alongside AI tools, improving their outputs by rigorously reviewing, refining, and iterating on AI-generated code and analyses.
- Act as a data steward, defining and enforcing rigorous data governance standards while managing metadata frameworks to ensure compliance and discoverability.
- Drive a high level of data quality and observability across the data lifecycle.
- Support modernization and migration initiatives from legacy reporting platforms.
- Perform unit tests and conduct code reviews to ensure rigorously designed, elegantly coded, and performance-tuned solutions.
- Establish a single source of truth for trusted metrics and data that users can easily find, understand, and use for confident decision-making.
- Leverage analytical skills to drive current and future strategy, including building and validating models.
- Work with vast amounts of data in evolving environments to create a superior customer experience.
- Collaborate across business units in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where analytics and data are top priorities.
- On any given day, you may:
- Drive high data and code quality, consistency, and simplicity.
- Identify and implement process, data, and reporting improvements.
- Work with large and complex databases containing millions to billions of records.
- Improve operational efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Conduct analysis to evaluate processes and tests.
- Enhance self-service offerings with data cubes, dashboards, and AI interfaces.
- Consult on the design and implementation of new production and data storage systems.
Requirements
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field) plus at least 6 years of experience performing data analytics, or a Master’s Degree plus at least 4 years of experience performing data analytics. Degree must be obtained on or before the scheduled start date.
- At least 4 years of experience performing professional data analysis work.
- At least 4 years of experience performing programming.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline.
- At least 7 years of professional data analysis work experience.
- At least 4 years of experience with Python, R, Spark, or SQL.
- At least 1 year of experience in people management.
- At least 1 year of project management experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in Tableau.
- Proficiency in utilizing and developing within AWS services.
- Strong problem-solving and conceptual thinking abilities, along with communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Passion for the newest and most innovative analytical tools.
Pay
The annual full-time salary ranges for this role are:
- McLean, VA: $164,800 - $188,100 for Data Analysis Manager
- New York, NY: $179,700 - $205,100 for Data Analysis Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. This role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
