About the Role

If you love inspiring and motivating young learners and want to put students first in education, CSUSA is the right place for you. As a Dance Teacher, you will provide students with opportunities to acquire knowledge and skills in two or more styles of dance. The content includes in-depth knowledge and application of techniques in two or more dance styles (ballet, jazz, modern, theater, or tap), knowledge of dance terminology, and basic choreography of movement sequences.

Responsibilities

• Presents subject matter to students to maximize learning opportunity.
• Reviews student records to develop a foundation of understanding regarding each student's abilities and needs.
• Maximizes the educational achievement of each student and demonstrates a variety of student learning modalities in each lesson.
• Utilizes diagnostic assessment of student learning regularly and maintains accurate, complete student records.
• Frequently assesses student strengths and weaknesses, provides appropriate activities to address student needs, and generates progress reports as required.
• Refers students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
• Assigns lessons, corrects student work, and reviews oral presentations.
• Coordinates class field trips and prepares students for school presentations.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to the maturity and interests of students, and ensures it is clean, safe, and includes student-generated work on display as appropriate.
• Implements relevant policies governing student conduct and develops reasonable rules of classroom/playground behavior in accordance with CSUSA policy and guidelines.
• Develops lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and goals, and plans individual and group learning activities designed to meet instructional objectives and students' needs.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows evidence of preparation upon request of supervisory personnel.
• Participates in curriculum planning during designated meetings and incorporates diagnostic information from students' Individual Education Plans (IEP) into planning.
• Takes necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities needed for the instructional program.
• Establishes effective rapport with students, staff, and parents, and communicates clearly and positively with parents via appropriate mediums.
• Maintains confidentiality about students and attends parent communication activities.
• Participates in extracurricular activities as required.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Student Information Systems (SIS).
• Proactive, creative, and able to drive projects to completion with a high level of quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
• Possession of valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
• Minimum of 1+ year of dance instruction experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Work Environment

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment includes usual school working conditions. The environment may be noisy during high student traffic.
