Responsibilities
- Prepare and teach dance techniques.
- Show students how to warm up, cool down, and move safely.
- Create weekly lesson plans and provide them to the direct supervisor.
- Study and practice multiple dance techniques and styles, staying up to date with the latest music trends.
- Choreograph performances for quarterly dance recitals and produce seasonal recitals to showcase student progress.
- Collaborate with other teaching artists to create specific works for annual events and ensemble performances.
- Report equipment and prop problems to the supervisor.
- Evaluate students and provide written feedback to the direct supervisor and program participants.
- Attend organizational meetings.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Two (2) or more years of experience teaching dance.
- Prior experience teaching children is preferred.
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with other teachers.
- An excellent work ethic, positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to perform assigned tasks.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- The ability to pass a criminal background check.
