Dams Engineering Manager
About the role
Black & Veatch’s Civil Works Team is seeking a Dams Engineering Manager to lead projects for our clients in the Northwest, West Coast, and Southwest regions. The role involves managing and mentoring junior staff, delivering innovative design products, collaborating with subject matter experts, and engaging in trainings to advance leadership capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Communicate and work directly with client counterparts to understand their infrastructure challenges and provide solutions.
- Create and oversee the creation of technical documents, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and other engineering deliverables.
- Manage and mentor junior engineers, and participate in internal Engineering Management and Local Business Leadership training programs.
- Support business development teams and lead pursuit activities, with the potential to lead projects.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulatory requirements for dams and hydropower clients.
- Experience with West Coast dams and hydropower clients.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License.
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program or equivalent experience.
- Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries.
Skills
- Strong technical skills in dam and hydraulic structures engineering design, rehabilitation, and construction.
- Ability to leverage knowledge of general engineering principles including hydraulics, civil/structural design, geotechnical considerations, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes relevant to the hydropower industry.
- Proficiency in preparing and overseeing the preparation of calculations and design documents.
- Experience in equipment procurement and construction management processes.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $114,930.00 - $249,522.00 annually.
Schedule
This role offers a hybrid or flexible work option after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
