Damage Prevention Specialist responsible for accurately identifying and marking underground utilities to prevent damage during excavation, ensuring public safety and infrastructure integrity within Cobb County, GA.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and analyze utility maps, blueprints, and records to determine the precise location of underground utilities (e.g., gas, electric, water, sewer, telecommunications).
• Operate various locating equipment (e.g., electromagnetic locators, ground penetrating radar) to accurately pinpoint and mark utility lines with appropriate color codes.
• Communicate effectively with excavators, property owners, and other stakeholders regarding utility locations and safety precautions.
• Complete detailed and accurate documentation of locate requests, including sketches, photographs, and electronic records.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and local/state regulations related to utility locating and damage prevention.
• Respond to emergency locate requests in a timely and efficient manner.
• Maintain and calibrate locating equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex locate challenges.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in utility locating or a related field (e.g., construction, surveying) is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and schematics.
• Proficiency in operating utility locating equipment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
