Dairy Sales Representative

About the role

Altar Genetics is seeking a consultative sales professional to join their team in Western New York. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the dairy and agricultural industry, a track record of success in sales and customer service, and a commitment to building long-term relationships with customers.

Responsibilities

• Promote and sell Alta's genetics, related products and services
• Provide an excellent and efficient experience to clients
• Evaluate and assess customer accounts and product offerings for continuous improvement
• Increase Alta's market share through existing customer base and core business of large herds
• Possess strong prospecting, development, and management skills for new business
• Promote Alta products and services at local and regional dairy events
• Review monthly sales reports
• Manage expenses, inventory, and accounts receivable

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agribusiness, Dairy Science, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience)
• Experience in dairy or beef genetics, reproduction services, or livestock sales
• Exceptional relationship building and communication skills
• Self-starter, results-oriented, and driven by developing win-win solutions
• In-depth genetic knowledge and familiarity with dairy management software programs (considered asset)
• Significant local travel required

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agribusiness, Dairy Science, or a related field is preferred
• Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education

• In depth genetic knowledge and familiarity with dairy management software programs are considered assets
