Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of up to 15 employees
- Ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently and according to established protocols
- Attend management meetings
- Participate in herd checks with the veterinarian
- Make daily decisions regarding culling
- Work closely with the nutritionist and other vendors to maintain herd health and productivity
- Oversee milk production
- Assist with fresh cows, dry cows, and down cows
- Help administer shots and treatments as needed
- Data entry into DairyComp
- Manage inventory and order supplies
- Ensure parlor procedures and cow comfort standards are upheld
Qualifications
- Prior experience managing people in a dairy or livestock setting
- Strong herd health background; ability to treat, diagnose, and manage health issues
- Proficient with DairyComp and basic computer programs
- Strong leadership, communication, and time management skills
- Spanish language ability preferred
- Experience with breeding/AI is a strong plus
- Detail-oriented with a solid work ethic and commitment to animal care
- Ability to work collaboratively with owners and external vendors
- Experience training employees, supporting accountability, and ensuring consistent protocol adherence
- Strong organizational and team-building skills, including scheduling, staffing, and employee development
- Comfort working with employee housing and basic transportation coordination when needed
- Familiarity with performance reviews, compensation discussions, and ongoing team support
