About the role
Oversee one of the most visited departments in our stores as the Dairy Manager. Manage a “store within a store” in a fast-paced, friendly environment while delivering an extraordinary customer service experience and helping people make healthy choices.
Responsibilities
- Manage activities and functions of the Dairy Department to achieve and maximize sales and profits.
- Direct clerks in the department, overseeing presentation and sanitation standards on the sales floor and in the backroom cooler.
- Process and stock products according to Sprouts dairy standards.
- Deliver outstanding customer service.
- Control inventory to recommended stock levels using proper ordering techniques to maximize sales and minimize stock loss.
- Ensure proper rotation of products to control freshness; remove out-of-code items.
- Implement price changes within the department.
- Engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and one-on-one development discussions; make recommendations on merit increases via bi-annual performance reviews.
- Regularly attend and participate in in-store meetings.
- Recruit, hire, and make promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.
- Exercise independent judgment to address team member concerns and document corrective actions when needed, including collaboration with HR for performance management.
- Ensure maximum productivity and efficiency by creating and adjusting schedules and staffing levels.
- Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.
- Lead a team to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest customer experience.
- Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work areas (including tables, floors, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.).
- Operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed.
- Accurately weigh and label products using knowledge of scales and weight measures.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age with a minimum of 2 years' retail grocery experience.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
- Outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude toward team members and customers.
- Ability to answer phones and take special orders.
- Ability to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift.
- Ability to vertically transfer trays up to 5 lbs. from 7” to 64” for up to 10 hours, and vertically/horizontally transfer items up to 40 lbs. from 5” to 36” for a distance up to 36 feet for up to 10 hours without mechanical assistance.
- Adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations; maintain a Food Handlers permit.
